Super Moon - Aug 11th 2014
I thought the Super Moon was the night before, so wasn’t paying it to much attention…
Anyway, what I wrote on Facebook captures the moment best:
“..Amazing! Just coming back from movie at Yarraville when I saw a strange sliver of light in the sky beside the city. It looked like sideways, frozen lightning. I pulled up right under the Westgate and realised it was the Super Moon rising up through the clouds and lighting up just the wavy top bit of the clouds. Magic sight as it poked through the top of the cloud bank There are going to be so many beautiful photos. Sadly I only had the phone and got some blurry shots. Happily I bumped into a bloke – with his two youngsters (in their PJs) – who had jumped in the car when he saw it on the news…and with a proper camera. I babysat whilst he went back to the car to grab a 2nd lens. He has my details and hopefully his shots will show what we saw!..”
And here’s his (Scott’s) excellent photos:
We met in the car park under the Westgate and then, by coincidence, at the Punt Dock – opposite ScienceWorks – a few minutes later. It was here where I actually ‘babysat’ as we watched the Moon rise up behind the huge Westgate Bridge.
