Tim Brooke-Taylor :-(

Sad to wake up to the passing of Tim Brooke-Taylor. I was only an occasional Goodies watcher but enjoyed it. I think I’d discovered Python by then, but – just a few years later – I found the link between him/them and one of the Pythons, earlier in their careers. I bought this 1967 (?) album – with bits from the radio show – and played it till it nearly wore out.

Don’t have it any more, but it was so funny and Tim was key, including his ad-libs and flubs.

The show only had 1 female cast member, so Tim would sometimes have to play a female character. On one track/sketch, he is playing two roles; one male one female, who had to talk to each other. I’m sure the writers did this on purpose, to put fun pressure on him.

And it worked. The female started reading the male’s lines. From memory, he quickly threw in the catchphrase; I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again.

I’m just sorry we won’t see the likes of Tim and his mates again.
